The Days Fly By

October...really?

Both Dee and I are finding it difficult to keep track of time. Life seems to literally be flying by in front of our eyes...particularly as Dee continues to "grow".

Our weekends are filled with preparation for winter in the garden. We ripped out all the vegetables, and weeds, spread the compost, etc. But it's not all work. Last weekend I abandoned Dee and went riding in Smith Creek on Saturday and then again on Sunday when the boys and I went riding in Kalamalka Park, specifically Cosens Bay. We got lost...well not actually lost, but we definitely missed the turn and ended up way up on the High Rim Trail. Too stubborn to turn back and ride down the way we came up we kept climbing up the ridiculously steep trail. Finally we cut our losses and came down the up road. After 2 flat tires and a blur of trees, we found the trail to take us back to the truck, but it wasn't the one that we were looking for. Fun none the less!

Squash season is in full swing as well. Thus far our league team is holding our own, and managing to have great games, lot's of fun, and drink our share of beer. Ahh...what the game is all about. Outside of league I'm managing to find some time to get in a few games a week.

Dee has been forced to find other outlets. She's taken to canning, baking, and cooking...all of which I support her in...ummm cookies. For obvious reasons, her mountain biking has been culled to tame flat trails with little or no risk. She enrolled in a pre-natal yoga class, but it was cancelled for unexplained reasons, and all other classes were full. Hopefully she can get into the next cycle of classes.

Work has been ridiculously busy for us both. Dee was in the Kootenay's this week, while I was swamped at work on the Westside. The District of Westside officially took over services from the Regional District on Ssept 1, so I have now had a month to suss things out. So far, I can report that it is pretty good, but damn is it busy. As we figure out how much work there actually is, and what people's roles and responsibilities are, it is becoming evident (to me) that we are understaffed. Hopefully management and the decision makers realize the same thing. It feels pretty weird to turn up to work beside my old high school, but at the same time it is pretty cool. I really have a vested interest in the work that I am doing as I have a history with the area and a passion for the subject matter (Parks Planning).

Fall is whizzing along, and Thanksgiving is next weekend. We still have no plans, but with the three day weekend it's imperative that we figure out how to maximize our fun.
