On July 12-13 we did a trip to Salmon Arm and Merritt to do some Mt. Biking. While in salmon Arm we rode Rubberhead which is an amazing trail with fantastic singletrack, challenging stunts, and nice views. The trail had one of the coolest stunts I've ever seen. It was a sliding platform. Essentially you had to ride up onto the platform, lock up your brakes which would transfer your energy and momentum into the slider, which would then roll forward with you stationary ontop. When the slider came to and end (approx 6 feet later), you had to release your brakes, whcih would transfer the energy and momentum back to your bike and you'd roll off...in theory. No one mastered it the first time, but we were all able to pull it off on the second attempt. Unfortunately I lost all the video from that trip when downloading from my camera. Stupid mistake, but I blame Loïc for harassing me. Check out
Loic’s webpage to see the video that he compiled.
Following Rubberhead we went to Merritt and rode Goadie and Ursus. Both trails start from the info centre and head up, and both are fantastic decents. Ursus is smooth, fast and flowey, while Goadie is rough and has some stunts, but well suited to our cross country bikes.
Check out the photos of each ride
