WoW, Apparently April, May, and now June are slipping away from us. I can't believe it has been that long since the last update!
We've just been that busy. Places to go, people to see, things to do. Here's a quick synopsis:
We've just been that busy. Places to go, people to see, things to do. Here's a quick synopsis:
- Biking/paddling trip in Leavenworth, WA (May Long Weekend)
Consisted of paddling the VERY flooded Wenatchee River (13,000 cfs in the am, 18,000cfs in the pm, and 22,000cfs the next am). Then it got washed out and not much fun to paddle so we elected to ride instead.
Riding was EPIC. We found some great cross country with technical aspects down a ridge, and the following day we found an 18mile classic cross country trial. Definately a desination trail for next time.
- Cow Trail Classic Mountain Bike Race
Good time, excellent race course, and perfect conditions for racing. Ian Crosthwaite, Dee and I raced our hearts out, however only had a good race. I withdrew after only one of two laps (20km) due to back problems. I stiffened up, and had a hard time staying to the bike. Things are good now though, thankfully. Dee took a wrong turn off the race course and got lost. She ended up eventually finding the course again, but only after a long side trip. I guess she didn't think that the course was long enough. Ian had a great race completing his two laps in good time and with fresh legs. I haven't seen results, but would imagine that he did well...he a Crosthwaite after all, they always kick ass in races. I will be back next year for sure, and will make the trek out there this summer for more fun rides. Merritt has such great terrain.
- Cheering Loïc and Chris in their 1/2 Iron Man Trialthalon.
It pissed rain in the am, but tuned out to be perfect race coditions. Nice and cool, which is unusual for Oliver where it can get scoarching hot. We also ran into friends from University while we were seeking shelter in one of the local restaurants, Dave Roberts and Bridget Linder (though I encourage her to make the shif to a GREAT last name as they were recently married). Dave was competing as well. Sounds like everyone enjoyed their race, as best you can considering your beating the crap out of your body for 5 hours or more. Very inspiring though.
Other than that, we've been on the bikes pretty much every day, as Pico needs a walk. I've been on Mission Creek a bunch of times already this season too. It's so accessible as an afterwork adventure at this time of year. Things have been racing past, and time has had a hard time keeping pace. I can't think of any other exciting stories to tell, but know that it has been busy and entertaining to say the very least. Life is good when you’re busy, it just sucks when you can't remember what you've done. Oh well, I guess that's why we take pictures right?
