Long Weekend in Leavenworth

The weekend began rocking out to eighties tunes in the car on the way south through Washington and ended with some bloody limbs and a very tired dog. When I think of America, Leavenworth is not what comes to mind. A tiny Bavarian village, with a stunning river, loads of culture and amazing views – oh and some fun mountain biking trails, interesting hikes and what appears to be some fantastic whitewater kayaking/creeking, and climbing (There might be some good shopping too…). We intend on heading back there in September to test the rock for ourselves. Thanks to Jim for ending our last ride with a spectacular wipe out. What stated out looking like a face plant, turned into a “graceful” roll onto the back before skidding to a halt at Mark’s feet. Unfortunately the camera didn’t catch him in the act, but we do have the photos leading up to it, and of course the aftermath. A prolonged swim at the town’s sandy beach and he was clean enough to let in the car for the haul home. This is one area definitely worthy of further exploration and adventures.
