Catch Up

So it has been a while since the last update, and I figured that I had better get a move on or I would be writing a novel instead of an update.

September Long Weekend was spent doing various activities. On Friday, Melissa from Edmonton arrived in Kelowna to visit and share in the festivities of Dee’s birthday weekend. Friday turned out to be the party night. Friends arrived at our place in the early evening and then we headed out on the town. What was planned as an enjoyable social evening quickly turned into an enjoyable drunken bombardment of drink after drink. The boys tore up the town and left Dee to catch a cab home after spending some quality time at some of Kelowna's seedier establishments.

Saturday was spent trying to recover while Dee and Melissa went on wine tours at Mission Hill, and swam at Paul’s tomb.

Sunday I arrived bright eyed and bushy tailed at the mighty Thompson River for two days of paddling (see Loïc and Tess’ pictures). It was an amazing rollercoaster ride over wave trains with names like Jaws of Death, Witch Cauldron, Cutting Board ect. I also had some pretty amazing surf’s on the Frog wave and the Pump House wave. Watching Loic and Tess surf was entertaining and left me with something to aspire to. Their efforts to “train” me were unsuccessful, though I am bound and determined to get a flat spin in. One of the highlights of the weekend off the river was the free camping. It was great! Flat gravel, the best smelling out houses that I have ever been in, and only 100m form the river put in. I arrived home Monday evening very tired, but content.
